About Me

My photo
I am a middle school teacher with about a 10 years of experience in the classroom teaching Language Arts, History, and Humanities. I believe that by providing them with real connections between the curriculum and the world around us, students experience more ownership and authenticity in their learning. The answers to the perennial questions about why history, or any subject, is important can be found in the headlines, galleries, and voices that will be featured on this page.

NAIS: Teachers of the Future Forum

Below are some links and ideas from the Teachers of the Future presentation at this year's NAIS conference.  One of the teachers created her presentation using a web 2.0 tool called Prezi (http://prezi.com/) that she said her students loved using and quite easy to get a hang of.  It looked fantastic and could worked on from anywhere, making it easy to collaborate.

Many of the presenters and members of the audience were talking about the ideas and PLN collaboration happening at the Independent School Educators Network  - http://isenet.ning.com/.

Right now, the site is featuring an introductory video about the Kahn Academy's software program which everyone should check out.  They are doing amazing, and free to access, work for teachers and students! http://isenet.ning.com/video/khan-academy-exercise-software
